ALTERNATIVE DELIVERY METHODOLOGIES FUNDING WINDOW GUIDELINES 2018

According to Higher Education South Africa (HESA), student enrolment has almost doubled since 1994 and the student body is more demographically representative. Actual per capita funding has decreased, although the amount of state funding has more than doubled in the past 10 years, since 2006. BANKSETA purpose of project is to support demand-driven offerings by South African (SA) public Universities to offer alternative delivery methodologies for students to achieve qualifications. The alternative delivery methodology model proposed will provide remote access to universities to lecture to any students with an internet connection. Click here for Application form.

Public Higher Education Postgraduate Supervisory Programme

Postgraduate Supervision is generally a function of lecturers who supervise Masters and Doctoral Students. Due to the low throughput of Masters and Doctoral students at Universities and Universities of Technology, there is a need to build the skills of lecturers who supervise these students.Click here

Public Higher Education Research Chairs Funding

The BANKSETA University Research Partnership Project is a knowledge creation and skills development intervention aimed at strengthening and improving the research capacity of public HEIs to produce high quality sector specific research to deliver on sector skills planning. Click here

FAIS and Regulatory Examinations Learning Material

The Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002, (“the FAIS Act”), came into effect on 30 September 2004 with the objective to protect consumers, and professionalise the financial services industry. Regulatory examination is an accepted international practice and standard to set professional examinations for professions within the financial sector. BANKSETA and INSETA facilitate the examination process for both RE 1 and RE 5

Regulatory Exam 1

This is a general examination that applies to all key individuals and sole proprietors in all the categories. This examination consists of 80 questions. All sole proprietors and key individuals who are responsible for managing and overseeing a business relating to the rendering financial services for FSPs in Category I, II, IIA, III and IV are required to write this examination.

Regulatory Exam 5

This is for all Representatives, including those employed or mandated by an FSP, who render a financial service to a client (excluding a person rendering clerical, technical, administrative, legal, accounting or other service in a subsidiary or subordinate capacity which does not require judgment or does not lead to a specific transaction in respect of a financial product in response to general enquiries) are required to write this examination.

INVITATION TO HOST ICT GRADUATES

BANKSETA invites companies to participate in our ICT work readiness programme by hosting ICT graduates. ICT graduates are undergoing intense four month theoretical work readiness training followed by experiential training at a host company for a period of six months completely funded by BANKSETA.

Accreditation of New Providers on the existing Legacy qualifications

QCTO - Circular 2 of 2017 signifies:

Please take note, as from the 31 March 2018, BANKSETA as a Quality Assurance Partner (QAP) will not be accrediting NEW providers on historically registered qualifications where there are new or related registered Occupational Qualifications.

Providers must apply to the QCTO for accreditation on all new occupational qualifications.

Current providers that have been accredited with unit standard qualifications where there are learner uptakes will be valid until the “last date of achievement” of the qualification and then an additional 12 months until 30 June 2019. This is referred to as the ‘de-activation period” in which learners can be enrolled.

Further communication about the development process on all new occupational qualification to be communicated soon.

The BANKSETA has appointed The Training Edge (ATTE) to offer the Credit Loan Officer training workshops to Small and Micro Finance Enterprises including Debt Counsellors, Rural housing financiers, Credit Bureau and Community Based Organizations (CBO’s), Micro lenders; Cooperative Financial Institutions and Development Financial Institutions etc. Preference will be given to entities who have submitted Workplace Skills Plans and Annual Training Reports to BANKSETA for the 2017/18 financial year. The focus will be on Credit Loan Officer Training and will be conducted in 3 day workshops Nationally.

BANKSETA DISCRETIONARY GRANT FUNDING WINDOW NOW OPEN!!

The BANKSETA will be opening funding windows and inviting qualifying employers to participate in projects for the 2018/2019 financial year.

*Please note that in all instances submission of Workplace Skills Plans by 30 April 2018 is a prerequisite for participation in projects and access to funding.

BANKSETA Public Higher Education Research Chairs Funding

BANKSETA want to establish high quality research capability with the sector and this can be achieved in collaboration with external research partners such as public higher education Institutions. The BANKSETA will identify institutions with a strong research focus and who are willing to partner with the organisation in conducting extensive research to inform skills planning for the banking sector. The funding will be paid to the institution after the Memorandum of Agreement has been signed between the BANKSETA and the Public Higher Education Institution. The maximum grant per institution is R3 million for the full contractual period depending on the research to be conducted. For more info click her

BANKSETA WORKPLACE SKILLS PLANS & ANNUAL TRAINING REPORTS NOW OPEN!!

The BANKSETA MIS (Management Information System) is now open for the capturing of Workplace Skills Plan/Annual Training Report, and Workplace Skills Survey (WSS). The closing date for submission of WSP/ATR and WSS is Monday, 30 April 2018. Kindly note that no late submissions will be allowed. The MIS System will automatically reject your submission if it is late.

The Skills Development Facilitators (SDFs) that are not currently registered are required to register themselves online and link their SDF profiles to their respective organisations. To register and to submit your WSP/ATR and/or WSS please go to www.banksetamis.org.za to access the MIS system. All small organisations (with less than 50 employees) will be redirected by the system to complete the WSS and not WSP/ATR.
