  ENTRY GUIDELINES
 
 

INTRODUCTION

Please define your interpretation of Good Practice in Skills Development, in no more than 200 words.

Explain the prominence of your organisation and its differentiating factors.

Supporting documents can be submitted in support of all the sections below. Ensure that you clearly mark which section the document supports.

Please note, all submissions should not exceed 150 words per section.

Section 1 – Learnerships (Employed only)

Describe, in some detail, your good practices with regards to the implementation of learnerships for employed learners. Substantiate your text with appropriate evidence.
Examples – innovation in recruitment practices, integrated talent management practices, coaching and mentoring practices, exposure to various areas of business, additional support to learners, accessibility for learners in underprivileged/rural areas and support to employees who completed AET in order to improve qualifications.

Section 2 – Work-Readiness Interventions (Unemployed only)

Describe your support to unemployed youth through targeted interventions (including but not limited to learnerships, internships, graduate placement, workplace experience, job shadowing programmes). Substantiate your text with appropriate evidence.
Examples – innovation in recruitment practices, integrated talent management practices, coaching and mentoring practices, exposure to various areas of business, additional support to learners, accessibility for learners in underprivileged/rural areas, etc.

Section 3 – Participation in BANKSETA-funded Programmes

Describe how the mandatory discretionary grant funding is used in the organisation. Explain how you have integrated the BANKSETA’s programmes into your talent management plan. Describe the success stories of the progression of beneficiaries in the organisation including statistics of learners entered and certified competent. Substantiate your text with appropriate evidence.

Section 4 – Innovation

Describe how your organisation has applied innovative practices in human resource/capital and learning and development e.g. use of technology, talent management strategy, maintaining training in difficult times, research, etc. Substantiate your text with appropriate evidence.

Section 5 – Professionalisation

Describe how your organisation encourages and supports professionalisation. Substantiate your text with appropriate evidence.
Examples - practitioners belonging to professional bodies/associations (e.g. SABPP, CIPD), other bodies (e.g. COMENSA, IPM, ENG), participation in communities of expert practice (e.g. QCTO, ASTD etc.) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities. Include activities related to meeting legislative requirements e.g. FAIS.

Section 6 – Measuring Training Impact/Assessment Practices

Describe how the lives of employees are improved through company training initiatives.

Section 7 – Supporting People With Disabilities (PWD)

Describe how your organisation supports PWD.
Examples – awareness/sensitivity initiatives, customising training, partnerships, innovation, promoting equal opportunities for PWD in learning and development, among other things.

Section 8 – Contribution to Socio-Economic Objectives

Describe how your organisation contributes to broader national (local community/provincial) socio-economic objectives. Substantiate your text with appropriate evidence.
Examples – education, training or development activities related to transformation including corporate social investment, economic development activities, supporting small business development, additional support e.g. providing bursaries/study assistance to employees and/or their children, or relatives, capacity-building of educational institutions (universities, colleges, schools) e.g. funding a chair at Varsity, painting a school, funding a science laboratory/teaching, or learning equipment.

Section 9 – Partnership provision

Explain how your organisation develops and maintains relationships with the various stakeholders within the Skills development platform of the banking and microfinance sector.
For example, attending workshops, assessments, networking and programme delivery.

Section 10 – RPL methodologies

Explain how you have used the RPL methodologies with the implementation and assessment of your BANKSETA learning programmes.
Example of the RPL policy, assessment guide, learner support policy, list of the Assessor and Moderators and Articulation policy indicating learner progression.

Section 11 – QCTO initiative

Discuss how your organisation has become involved in the various QCTO initiatives piloted by BANKSETA and participation in QCTO initiatives and workshops.
