| Niche learnerships |
|
| Niche learnerships are demand driven and a response to the need for specific skills required in the
work environment as well as transformation imperatives. The BANKSETA supports the introduction of niche learnerships in the sector provided there is a
genuine need for it and that a proper needs analysis is done. The learnership should have broad
applicability in the sector and should not be a once-off initiative. |

| Important learnership information for employers |
| |
| When learnerships are registered with the Department of Labour they become public domain. This means that in addition
to the learnerships registered by the BANKSETA employers may also participate
in learnerships registered by other SETA's. A list of all learnerships registered can
be found on www.labour.gov.za and additional information on those learnerships can be obtained from the
SETA that registered them. |

| Important learnership information for learners |
| |
| Please note the BANKSETA does not recruit learners to go on learnerships. When an employer in the banking sector
participates in a learnership they are responsible for the recruitment and selection of learners to go on learnerships.
Learners are advised to register at the Department of Labour centres to ensure that employers and recruitment
agencies making use of the database have access to their details. |
| |
| Important learnership information for training providers |
| |
| In terms of legislation all training providers participating in learnerships must be accredited by the
relevant ETQA. When requesting the BANKSETA to register a learnership, training
providers must have a letter of commitment from the employer party to supply
the learner with the required workplace exposure |
