| Background |
|
| The banking sector indicated the need for not only a post matric programme but also a post
graduate programme to give unemployed graduates with a completed BCom degree
the opportunity to gain practical skills. At the request of the sector, the Post Graduate Learnership for Unemployed Youth, now known as
the BANKSETA Kuyasa Programme was launched in March 2005. The learnership makes use of the infrastructure
created by the BANKSETA Letsema Programme and is fully funded by the BANKSETA. |

| 2006 INTAKE |

140 learners were recruited and placed with seven participating employers in Gauteng (Absa, Nedbank,
Investec, SBV, Blue Dot, Imperial and BANKSETA). Learners were sourced in accordance with selection
criteria stipulated by the sector and met the minimum National Skills Development Strategy equity targets:
- 85% black
- 54% female
- 4% disabled

| Learners completed the learnership at the end of February 2007 with a 76% success rate. 78% of learners are now employed. |

| 2007 INTAKE |

| 140 Learners started the learnership on 5 February 2007. Learners were
recruited nationally and placed in Gauteng(Johannesburg and Pretoria).
Participating employers are: Absa, Nedbank, Standard Bank, Investec, Daimler Chrysler, SBV,
Khetani, Mercantile, Imperial Bank, Development Bank of South Africa,BANKSETA and Deposita.
Learners who complete the learnership successfully at the end of January 2008 will achieve a Certificate in Business Management, registered on
level 6 of the National Qualifications Framework |
